Hey guys! Today i’ve got something special for you guys! As you know we’ve interviewed Dem Slackers & F2U DJ’s and it’s time for a third. This time we spoke to my all time favorite duo Beau & Kalok, better known as Prowley Burglars!
As you guys and gals know, these are my favorite and I always talk about them, haha! They’ve made a mixtape and because of that, I was keen to ask them a few questions! Luckily they had time to answer them and I hope you guys enjoy it!

P.S. CHECK THE POST UNDER THIS ONE TOO! NEW POST JUST UNDER THIS ONE!

HTB: So Kalok and Beau, you guys ready to start this interview! Can’t wait to get it started haha!
Kalok: Haha bring it on!

HTB: Well, let me start with my first question and I think everybody would like to know this one! How did you guys meet and start with producing & DJing together?
Kalok: It was kinda funny actually, we met on Hyves (kinda lame!), it’s the same as myspace, the only difference is that’s from The Netherlands. We started talking about producing music and stuff, everything just ‘clicked’ and… Prowley Burglars was born!

HTB: How did you guys find the name “Prowley Burglars”? Any history behind that name? It’s a good one, don’t get me wrong, haha!
Kalok: We seriously thought about it for like 3 months untill we came up with “Prowley Burglars”. I ended up on wikipedia while searching for a name and came across the name prowley, it ment stealthy, don’t really know if that’s true or just a false thingy…
And Burglars, well… that’s speaks for itself! WORD!

HTB: What’s the history behind you both? As in how did Beau/Kalok get started producing etc etc?
Kalok: I started producing when i was like 17(?), a friend of mine gave me copy of this producing software which i’ve became addicted to and I still am!
Beau: There was a time that I listen to all kind of music. Seriously all kind of music! Rock, Funk, Jazz, Dance and other basic music. Why? It inspired me, all those weird melodies, the crazy drums, the powerful guitar and that lovely voice. Music was really another world for me. Especially when I saw the video clips. But a while ago when I was about 11/12 years old, I was listening to the radio, I heard a track; You Don’t Know Me by Armand van Helden. And Damnnn.. I was sold!

HTB: You guys have and are producing some remixes and original work with some big artists. How’s the feedback from these artists?
Kalok: We get great feedback from other artist, they like our evil-ish kinda style

HTB: You guys have done remixes to original work, so which one is your personal favorite? And which original/remix work gives you the biggest reaction in your sets?!
Kalok: Our remix for Tom Piper is deff our jewel! We were really struggling with this remix and eventually we came up with this ravy remix, which also turned to be a great ice breaker during our set @ boomingbeatz!

HTB: Like Booming Beatz, there we’re some major artists at that party. Which one is your favorite artists at the moment and whom would you like to work with the most? Also, which is your favorite artists you’ve worked or done a gig with?
Kalok: Our favorite artist at the moment is Shinichi Osawa, he’s a fucking genius! He has that melodic guitar sound that we like!
We’d like to work with Sawgood in the future! Let’s see what kind off evil baby is coming out of that collab!

HTB: What do you guys think of the fidget/electro/dubstep/drum n bass scene at this very moment?
Kalok: Fidget is dying in our opinion, therefore electro is taking it’s place in the music scene, also jackin/tech house is very hot at the moment!
Dubstep is timeless and will be there till the end, and drum n bass is sick. We will most likely make some dubstep tunes in the future…

HTB: Any heads up you would like to give us on your very own EP or some remixes your doing for some artists?
Kalok: There’s going to be an EP inspired by japanese music… the rest is confidentional. Sorry bro!

HTB: Can we expect Prowley Burglars to grown in 2010 and see you guys at a major gig anytime soon like 5 Days Off? In my eyes i’d give you the chance!
Kalok: We don’t know what the future might bring us but we will continue pursuing our dreams and archievements. Which hopefully lead us to ‘big’ gigs! (we hope? haha!)

HTB: Who’s the better mixer and who’s the better producer? Haha, i know it’s an evil question and hopefully it won’t end up in a break up, but i’m qurious, haha!
Kalok: We’re divorcing right now! no just kidding haha! but beau has the ‘wheels of steel’ gen in his body and i have the ‘producer’ gen in mine.

HTB: Any tips for future producers?
Kalok: Keep producing, never give up on your dreams and stay true to your music!

HTB: Anything you’d like to say to finish this interview?
Kalok: Check out our new mixtape!!!

Well there you go! Our third interview with the Prowley Burglars! Now as Kalok said, time to check out their mixtape! Enjoy!

What a great day! Beautifull weather and an awesome exclusive mixtape for us! This time by F2U DJ’s! This is actually an awesome moment, because they are starting off our exclusive mixtape & interview sessions! I’m glad we chose them to do our first, because you all know we’re a big fan of them! Their music is an inspiration for us, and consists of some hard banging electro music. There “Mars” Remix, has hit well known blogs around the world, and is respected and used by DJ’s like Dirty Talk, C.ENK etc. Their new song “Banana Bomb” is actually their best work till now. If you ask me they’ll probably be picked up soon by a label! Anyways, back to the mixtape! The mixtape, consists of some serious mixing skills with a serious banging tracklist! I really enjoyed this mixtape, and I will asure you, you will too! I wish you guys an awesome sunday, enjoy the weather and go outside and do something! Play your music loud, I don’t care just enjoy it! I wish F2U DJ’s the best in their upcoming career, and you know you’ll always be promoted here! We Love You F2U DJ’s! Check more of them out here: Soundcloud & Myspace

Interview:

HTB:Hello F2U DJ’s, how are you doing today and you ready to get this interview started?

F2U: Hey Wouter! We’re fine thank you! Sure man, let’s get it started!

HTB: Well, let’s first start out with how you got into making “Hard Hitting Bashing” electro music?

F2U: Well both of us started to listen electronic music since tender age and we followed separate path’s. Bruno started to play House music, and Mário started to play Psy Trance. Later we started to grow tired of always listening the same shit over and over again, and most of all we grew tired of watching people having a great time while listening really cheesy, stupid and “photocopied” music.
And we got together and started to work in somehting, and then we found Justice, SebastiAn, mostly Ed Banger material and Toxic Avenger, Cyberpunkers, The Bloody Beetroots and others.
And we said.. WOW, this is the shit. Let’s play this, let’s produce this, let’s love this !

HTB: Are there any artists you think we should look out for, on behalf of yourselves of course, haha!

F2U: Definitly, Dirty talk to us is one of the best talanted Dj’s that we know, but you already know that (laugh’s) When we started to work in Electro, his tips were fundamental to our growth! Here we leave a special thanks to him!
But here in Portugal we have lot’s of talentet, starting with the nu-disco stuff with artists like Xinobi, Moulinex, Rockets basically every artist envolved with DISCOT.E.X.A.S, who provides allways big nights with excelent music in Lisbon. Also in DISCOT.E.X.A.S. Crew, can you imagine two skulls mixing a terrifying sound? That’s Double Damage! We love it!
Also in a more Fidget scene we have DJ Manaia, possibly the best Portuguese Dj at the moment, Zombies For Money a duo made by Manaia and Klipar, that is really kicking ass, as can you see with their first EP – Sacanagem.
Drop Top is another duo from Lisbon that really have good talent, in DJing with very powerfull set’s and also in production, with their track ‘Triple Play and the remix for Zombies For Money – Sacanagem.
Sounds closer to the french maximal sound, another project from Lisbon has a greaat future, KATFYR. Their tracks are really really good shit! Another name that we follow is André Conde, a very talented artist with rock/disco influences

HTB: You guys have done remixes to original work, so which one is your personal favorite? And which one gives you the biggest reaction in your sets?

F2U: Well Wouter, we get a better reaction with Mars Remix, because it’s Mars!
People love Mars and we love it to, we gave it extra distortion on the low end to make it sound a bit more rough and apparently that worked, however we prefer the Bribe The Dj Remix, it sounds much better and agressive to us.

HTB
: What do you think of the electro scene at this very moment?

F2U: We are looking to the Electro Scene with a big smile! It’s a scene is growing every day, with more partys over the whole World and more good music apearing. Every day we find a new talent, a new song that rocks!
The thing we love at the Electro Scene is the Rave Spirit. The partys are absolutly crazy! No other electronic genre can be compared with this spirit. We think that’s the big reference and the real spirit in this scene.

HTB: Why did F2U DJ’s choose for the “Hard Hitting Bashing” (My definition of your music) electro music?

F2U: Our main objective in our music is to make it diferent. We just don’t stand do the same thing as the others.
When we are playing, we just can’t stop to play it harder and rougher! We always want to get a more euphoric sound, to transmite energy, electricity and … Whoop Whoop!

HTB: What can we expect from you guys in 2010 and the years to come? Any suprises, or any “secret” you would like to give away?

F2U: In 2010 we expect to show to the world our music, our Rave Spirit and to destroy every single dancefloor and kick some ass!
About surprises and secrets, well if we told it wouldn’t be a surprise anymore haha, but in the next weeks/mounths, we are sure that we are able to notice you about it.
Maybe more Banana’s coming…

HTB: What’s your inspiration when making music?

F2U: We have two inspirations: the city and the human capacity. All urban movements, the sounds, the smells, the lights looks like an inspiration to us. In the other side we like to explore the human audition to the limit, make people go out of control, just dance directly to what frequency they are hearing.

HTB: You always have people wanting you to play a song in a set, which is the most asked? And do you ever just feel liking punching someone when they come up with their phone requesting a number, haha?

F2U: Defintly Warp from The Bloody Beetroots, but we don’t mind! We all love Warp! It was absolutly THE track of 2009.
Normally we answer the requests by dropping something even meaner, louder and more distorded! Muahaha!
About the phone number requesting, when it’s hot babe’s asking we don’t mind, other than that.. yeah we punch people in the face (laugh’s)

HTB: Any tips for the future producers?

F2U: Yes always! Never give up and always try something new! Don’t just copy what’s been done, create, inovate, be fresh.. Unfortunetly today, doing good music isn’t enough.. so move and send your work to blogs like HypeThemBeats to get your work known.. Trust us, it helps!

HTB: Hope you all enjoyed the interview with F2U DJ’s! Now enjoy their mixtape they did for us, to finish this post the “perfect way”!
